Refractory Materials for Steelmaking
The steelmaking industry has a high overall demand for refractory materials and places extremely high demands on the raw materials. These materials must withstand high temperatures, slag corrosion, molten steel erosion, and rapid cooling and heating. Refractory materials used vary depending on the type of steelmaking furnace (converter, electric furnace) and process (refining, continuous casting). Our products have been used in the following typical applications (both shaped and unshahped ):
EAF Top/Roof:
High-alumina bricks or castables /precast blocks;
Ladle:
1.Ladle Wall: Alumina-magnesia carbon bricks or high-performance alumina-magnesia spinel castables/carbon-free precast blocks;
2.Ladle Bottom: Alumina-magnesia carbon bricks or castables/carbon-free precast blocks (for more durability in the impact zone);
3.Permanent Lining: Clay bricks or high-alumina castables;
4.Functional Components: purging plug (primarily corundum-spinel)/well block, slide gates system (upper and lower nozzles, slide gates)/well block, long nozzle (bubble alumina on the inner wall);
External Refining:
LF: Furnace bottom/sidewalls: High-alumina bricks or corundum-spinel castable. Furnace roof: High-alumina bricks, polycrystalline bubble castable.
RH: Lower trough/immersion pipe: Magnesia-spinel bricks, chrome-free basic bricks. Riser/vacuum chamber: High-alumina bricks or castable.
Continuous Casting Tundish:
Permanent Lining: Clay bricks or high-alumina castable.
Working Lining (Contacting Molten Steel): Dry-type material containing spinel or precast plates.
Impact Zone: Dense high-alumina bricks or precast blocks (flow stabilizer + impact plate).
Slag Retaining Wall/Dam: High-alumina or magnesium precast components.
Functional Components: Stopper (insulated hollow sphere), Shroud (inner wall hollow sphere)
